Nurishment - Sheltering

Student Year
The Student Year starts September 1st every year and ends August 31st of the following year. Basic Educational unit for the Institute is the semester. The educational work of every educational year comprizes timely of two semesters (wintry and vernal). Wintry semester begins at the first Monday after Semptember 19th. the Vernal one starts right after the end of wintry examinations of Period B and it ends July 5th. Every semester includes 15 weeks of teaching and two examination periods. Each period lasts 2 weeks. All faculties curriculums last for 7 or 8 semesters of tought courses and one Internship semester for hands on experience at the Proffession. Lessons cease:

a)From Christmass eve up to January 2nd

b) From Thursday before Easter Sunday up to Easter Thursday

c) From July 6th up to August 31st Exact Start and End dates of Lessons and examination Dates are been dictated by the Institute Council.

Registration
Registration occur from Sempteber 20th up to September 30th. Should Second semester admissants fail to enroll during the above date, they can also do during the last ten days of January. Enrollment renewals: 4-8 October For their RegistrationS the Students or a fully authorized by them person, will submit to the School or Department secretariat the following:

. Enrollment Application (Issued by the Department)

. High School Degree: High School Degree or Diploma or a legal copy of the Above Titles

. A statement in which he/she States that he/she have not been enrolled in another Faculty or Department of Higher Education in Greece

. Six (6) ID type Pictures

. Besides the above and only for those who succeded by the Unified High School System (90% and 10%) a photocopy of the certificate (access) of paragraph 13 article 1 of the N2525/1997 act, as complemented by articles paragraph 1 of the N. 2909/2001 act

. Upon arrival for enrollment the students must carry ID or an other public document that clearly states First Name, Last Name and birth date.

Within the same dates enrollment application along with the neccessary certificates occurs also for
- People with visual, speech and hearing disabilities, Cooley desease, sickle cell anemia and microsicle cell anemia, patients with congenital hydrocephalus with permanent CNF drainage accompanied with other congenital disorders as arachnoid cyst with epileptic crisis symptoms, also as patients with Duchenne dystrophy, major cerebrum malformation, malignancies, leukaemias, lemphomas, compact tumors, Budd-Chiari syndrome, Fabry desease, inocystic desease, (pancreas, lungs), dymyelinating multiple sclerosis, muscular disorders under pharmaceutical treatment, patients with renal disorders under haemocatharsis, heamophilia under treatment, people subjected to bone marrow transplantation or cornea, heart, liver, lung, kidney or pancreas transplantation, patients with insulin-dependent type-1 diabetes , Evans syndrome, aneamia patients subjected to multiple blood transfusions, PKU, patients with congenital thrombophilia under life-long thrombolitical treatment , arythmogenic dysplasia of the right ventricle with implanted pacemaker, Gaucher desease and people with movement disabilities due to handicapsy over 67%. The condition of the above must be certified by the elementary hygiene committee of the law, provided by the cost free certification of a Physician who is a Teaching Staff member of a University and a related specialty.

- High School graduates that were distinguished in a all Balkan or International Mathematics, Computer Science, science or chemistry Olympics and have been awarded first second or third prize.The above admissants must also submit certification by the Mathematical, Computer Science, Science, or Chemistry society respectively, and a certification by the Examinations Organization and implementation Directorate by which outcomes that the Lesson they excelled in and the prioritized significance lessons that are taken under consideration for the admission to the specific faculty belong to the lessons the students attended in High School as a major. It is further indicated that the admissants must attend to their enrollement withing the given deadines according to the Faculty or Department schedule. Otherwise admissants forfeit their right to Admission.
Specially for the Speech Therapy Department.Renewal enrollments of the Speech Therapy Department will be conducted from October 4th up to October 8th 09:30 - 13:00. Renewal Enrollments Instructions: It is reminded to the Speech Therapy students that:

1.The prerequisits that are stated in the Lesson Statements are valid.Grades that don't comply to the prerequisities are void.

2.Students that failed to declare lessons to be attended will not have their name inserted in the registry, ergo don't have the right to a grade or books.

3. There will not be a complementary statement of lessons.

4. LESSONS START 27-09-2004.

Study Program - Lessons Organization
Timetable is anounced ten days prior to the Lessons start of every semester. Typical semester programs are indicative and not compulsory for the students. Curiculums according to the Study guide are lessoncentric.Tought lessons are divided into three main categories:

.Compulsory

.Compulsory by choise

.optional

The two first categories include some lessons the knowledge of which is required for other lessons, these lessons are characterized as prerequizities. Students by statement which is submitted at the beginning of every semester regulate their private schedule at their wish bearing in mind two conditions: First that no lesson which has prerequisit lessons can be attented unless the latter has been successfully attended and second, that their weekly schedule is within 20 to 45 hours top. A student that has not submited a statement for a semester cannot attend or be examined at no lesson for that semester.He also cannot attend or be examined in a lesson which he did not include in his statement. Thesis is considered as lesson and the number of educational units the Faculty has defined. The institute's senior becomes graduate once he/she has completed all the requirements:

a) has attented successfully all compulsory, compulsoty by choise and optional lessons

b) His/Her Thesis has been approved

c) Has completed his/her Internship. Under no circumstance can the student graduate sooner than the defined educational duration of the faculty.

Scholarships
The National Scholarship Institute grants scholaships to those who excell, the number of the scholaships is annually regulated by the N.S.I, during General Examinations (at first entry from High School) and to students that excelled in promotional examinations if the fulfill the requirements below: Average grade of 6.5 in A+B semester or equal number of typical educational program lessons(If they were admitted during the wintry semester) and A+B+C semesters or equal number of typical educational program lessons(If they were admitted during the vernal semester).An equivalent adjustment applies for the subsequent semesters D+E and E+ST. The N.S.I also grants scholaships for post graduate studies to the T.E.I graduates in the Country or abroad according to the regulation.

Student Loans
Students have the right to a student loan up to 54.000 drc. The certificates required for the loan are:

.Application(Issued by the Faculty secretary)

.An IRS note or in the abscence of the latter Financial status aquaried by the Municipality or province he resides.

.An analytical Grade Status (It is required that the student has successfully attented two thirds (2/3) of past two semester lessons). The certificates are submitted to the Department faculties untill December 9th annually.The Loan is been repaid interest free after graduation in ten payments.Students that achieve a Degree Grade of above 8.5 are exempted repaiment.

Nurishment - Sheltering
The Nurishment - Sheltering office operates within the Institue's premises. It daily issues nurisment cards. the required certificates for free nurishment are:

.Application

.IRS note or E1 document

.Family Status certificate

.Statement of Declaration (N.1599/86 act)

.1 Photograph

Students that are eligible and desire free nurishment from the Institute, must submit to the nurishment - sheltering office the following certificates:

1.Application (issued by the office)

2.Family status certificate and an additional sibbling studenship certificate (if applied), Death certificate of parent(s), if orphan(unless that appears in the family status certificate),Divorce papers for divorced parents in which it must be stated which parent has custody of the children.

3. An IRS note were the parental total income is stated or an individual total income if the student submits a separate tax statement.

Note:

If parents are exempted from tax statement they must submit a statement of declaration (N 1599/86 act) in which they state "My Parents and myself are exempted from tax statement" approved by the IRS . Students with divorced parents must submit an IRS note with the income of the parent who has children custody.Proof of the latter is stated by court order and in case of separation by juridicial affirmation of the parent who has custody.

4. Statement of declaration (N.1599/86 act) in which he/she states: "I don't hold another higher Education degree" "All data in the submited certificates are true and prototypes (or ratified copies)" "I have no income of my own besides the one stated in my parental tax statement and myself i submit no tax statement" "I own no vehicle of transportation"

CYPRIOT Students
In order for Cypriot students to receive free nurishment, they must submit a Financial weakness certificate issued by the Social Prosperity Department of the Finance Ministry of Cyprus and the Family IRS note.
Hoogeneity Children
Student whose parents reside permanantly abroad, besides the above they must submit an affirmation issued by the respective Greek Embassy which clarifies that "their work abroad holds the form of a specialized or non worker" and the IRS note. Finally you can submit any other certificate you believe is neccessary to build the case for free nurishment.
