Electrical Engineering Department

The mission of the Department of Electrical Engineering is to provide a high-level technological education to its graduates in the field of Electrical Engineering. The Department's course content covers the knowledge base of applied science and technology of Electrical Engineering, with emphasis on electrical infrastructure, electric energy systems and installations, automation, electronic and information systems, measurement systems and data processing, networks and communication systems and photovoltaic systems. For that reason the Department's training aims at:

  • To provide sufficient and high level fundamental engineering knowledge, so that graduates can comprehend and apply state-of-the art- technology but also to be able to follow evolving advances in their field. For this purpose versatility of knowledge is emphasized.
  • To provide state-of-the-art and specialized knowledge in their curriculum to allow graduates to be both competent and productive in their profession.
  • To concurrently emphasize the applied character of their training, so that the knowledge provided knowledge is immediately applicable and the graduates have knowledge and hands-on experience on real engineering problems.

As related to the Institute's mission and goals, the Electrical Engineering department has a clear technological direction; it produces personnel capable of contributing to the economical, social, and political growth of the district and the country. It maintains close relations with productive units and organized sectors of the economy, it has developed many co-operations with other Greek and foreign Tertiary Education Institutes, it is very active in the area of applied research and development and finally it supports the Electrical Engineering graduates in their participation in post graduate studies.
